The Oklahoman's education reporter, Tim Willert, wrote a story about the District 3 candidate filings as of Tuesday afternoon, and I was featured. Click here to read the story.

I have a unique perspective of education, working as a newspaper reporter covering education and then as a classroom teacher. As a reporter, I had to listen to all sides and give readers the clearest picture of what was happening. Education has so many stakeholders, and those stakeholders have so many points of view. As a teacher, I saw how all those perspectives came into play in the classroom. Now, as a parent of a child in Oklahoma City Public Schools, I see what that means for a child who is starting her education in this city. Those years of listening, learning and asking questions will make me an effective school board member.
“Being in the classroom really changed my perspective on education; it made me realize that what's best for kids is for adults to work together and compromise.”
